President pays tribute to RCoA member, Dr Krishnan Subramanian

The Royal College of Anaesthetists is deeply saddened to hear of the death of College Fellow Dr Krishnan Subramanian, a Consultant Anaesthetist at Royal Derby Hospital who contracted COVID-19, and passed away on Thursday 12 November 2020.

Speaking on behalf of the College, Professor Ravi Mahajan, said:

“It is with immense sadness that I heard of Krishnan’s passing due to COVID-19. While anaesthetists continue to be an essential part of the frontline management of COVID-19, 2020 remains an incredibly challenging time for the anaesthetic community and all healthcare professionals. The tragic death of our colleague and College Member is a huge loss to the profession, Krishnan’s work colleagues and of course his family.

Krishnan was a dedicated member of the College since 2004 and received his Fellowship in 2010.

On behalf of all College Fellows, Members and staff, I express my sincerest condolences to Krishnan’s family, friends and colleagues at the Royal Derby. This tragic and deeply saddening news brings to light once more the risks faced by health and social care staff in battling this dreadful virus.”
