The Royal College of Anaesthetists has produced two presentations on how to prepare for the MSRA and the Anaesthetics CT1 & ACCS (Anaesthetics) Interview. The College strongly advises anyone preparing for these to take a look.

Dr Libby Beckett a CT1 ACCS Anaesthetic trainee at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, gives a brief overview of the MSRA including information on what is the MSRA?, how it will be used? structure of the MSRA, professional dilemmas and situational judgement.

Preparing for the Anaesthetics CT1 & ACCS (Anaesthetics) Interview

Dr Gabrielle McGrath an anaesthetic CT1 at University Hospitals  Sussex NHS Foundation Trust, gives a brief overview of the interview structure, interview scoring , examples of possible questions and tips to improve performance.

Please be aware that the timings referred to in the video are not current and are included as examples. Anaesthetists in Training should refer to the ANRO website for the current recruitment timeline.

Those viewing the video should also note that at the time this presentation was created it was not clear whether there would be two or three interviewers. The RCoA recruitment committee have confirmed there will be a single station extended interview with two assessors. The first part of the interview will be a clinical question( 15 minutes) followed by a general interview (15 minutes). Candidates should refer to the ANRO website for the updated matrix of assessment.

A CT1 mock interview will follow in due course, candidates should be aware that the questions used in these will not be the same as those asked at their own interview, they are an example only.
