Our thoughts are with members and colleagues in India
At the College we have been deeply affected by the situation across the Indian subcontinent, particularly as the UK is now on a road to recovery and anaesthetists nationwide are returning to normal working patterns.
I appreciate that many College members will have family, friends and colleagues profoundly affected by the pandemic’s surge across India. Our thoughts are with our clinical colleagues, their families and their patients as they work in difficult conditions to control the pandemic.
I particularly want to express our sympathy and support to College members separated from their families while they work and train in the NHS across the UK. Support and wellness resources are available on the College’s website, but if you need further help, please do speak with your managers.
I encourage College members to reach out to colleagues of Indian origin who may need emotional support during these challenging times.
A kind word or show of emotional support may be all that’s needed to provide reassurance to a concerned colleague. Let us do what we can to look after each other.
