Nominations Open: Election to RCoAs Scottish and Welsh Boards
Nominations for election to the Scottish and Welsh Boards of The Royal College of Anaesthetists are open now and will close on Thursday 5 January at 12 noon.
Successful candidates will take up their positions in February and March 2023.
Joining the Scottish and Welsh Boards provides you with an excellent opportunity to contribute to your College, influence our professional policy, and represent our Members at all stages of their working lives.
Scottish Board vacancies

2 consultant vacancies: To be eligible for this vacancy you must be on the specialist register and a Fellow by Examination or a Fellow Ad Eundem who practices in Scotland

1 SAS vacancy: To be eligible for this vacancy you must practice in Scotland and be a Fellow who is not a Consultant or Trainee, or a Member who is not a Consultant or Trainee
Welsh Board vacancies
9 vacancies: To be eligible for this vacancy you must practice in Wales, be registered with the GMC and be:

A Fellow by Examination, or
-
A Fellow by Exam 1st 4 Years, or
-
A Fellow Ad Eundem

Member

Information for those standing for the Scottish Board
The Board term of reference, including role description and online application for members of the Scottish Board are now available. The deadline to self-nominate is 5 January at 12 noon. All those wishing to be elected are asked to read this document prior to self-nominating. If you have any questions, please contact Dr Daphne Varveris, Chair, to discuss the role further and gain insight into the experience of being on the Scottish Board.
Information for those standing for the Welsh Board
The role description and the online application are now available and the deadline to self-nominate is 5 January at 12 noon. If you have any questions, please contact Dr Abrie Theron, Chair, or Dr Simon Ford, Vice Chair, to discuss the role further and gain insight into the experience of being on the Welsh Board.
For both Boards please also use our canvassing guidelines which set out the manner in which all candidates for elected College roles are required to conduct canvassing.

All those eligible to vote will be invited to do so by email.

16 February 2022: Close of ballot. Electronic voting will be closed at 12 noon. The election results will be declared via the College website as soon as possible.
All candidates are requested to hold the dates of the 2023 Scottish Board meetings in their diaries.

Welsh Election Timetable

5 January 2023: Nominations close at 12 noon. An election for representation will take place when nominations have been checked for eligibility and more than one representative wishes to stand.

16 January 2023: Ballot begins. Ballot emails will be distributed by our election services provider, Civica. All those eligible to vote will be invited to do so by email.

8 February 2023: Close of ballot. Electronic voting will be closed at 12 noon. The election results will be declared via the College website as soon as possible.
