Postgraduate career
Early posts, probably in this sequence, were house surgeon at King Edward VII Hospital for Officers, service in the Indian Medical Service, house surgeon for Ophthalmology & ENT, and out patient officer, the last two both at Guy’s. From 1922 he was assistant anaesthetist there and anaesthetist at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, but by 1929 was no longer at Guy’s, being anaesthetist at St Mary’s Hospital for Women & Children in Plaistow, Chelsea Hospital for Women and Chelsea All Saints Hospital. He began his association with Charing Cross Hospital in 1935, added Queen Charlotte’s Maternity Hospital in 1939 and kept only the Royal National Orthpaedic Hospital of his earlier attachments. This situation continued through and after WW2 until his retirement circa 1958.
